Pedestrian Wayfinding in 3D: Tokyo Walking Tour
Design Insight
Walking navigation in 3D environments presents unique cognitive challenges. Unlike driving, pedestrians need landmark-anchored orientation at decision points.
This prototype explores how camera positioning, pacing, and waypoint highlighting can reduce wayfinding anxiety in immersive 3D navigation.
Technical Approach
Built with Google Maps JavaScript API 3D, using flyCameraTo() for smooth pedestrian-level transitions and Polyline3DElement for route visualization.
Camera parameters tuned for walking: low altitude (25m), high tilt (72°), heading calculated toward next waypoint.

Market Intelligence Dashboards for Short-Term Rental Operators
The Problem
Short-term rental hosts make pricing and investment decisions with almost no reliable market data.
Most tools show surface-level averages that don't reflect local supply, demand patterns, or competitive positioning.
What I Did
Designed a market intelligence platform that surfaces occupancy rates, pricing trends, revenue projections, and competitive benchmarks for STR operators.
Data visualization components communicate spatial market dynamics: which areas are outperforming, where demand is concentrated, and what drives revenue differences across comparable listings.

Performance dashboard with market benchmarks
Shows hosts their revenue gap versus top performers, occupancy and RevPAN compared to market averages, and a scorecard that surfaces what's underperforming.

Property manager marketplace with performance data
Lets Airbnb owners compare property management companies using real metrics: occupancy rates, revenue, guest ratings, and a map view of every listing each PM manages.

Mileage Auto-Tracking with Map UI
The Problem
Self-employed and SMB QuickBooks users needed to track business mileage for tax deductions without manually logging every trip.
The existing new user flow never explicitly mentioned this feature exists in the app, resulting in a low feature adoption rate.
What I Did
Designed and shipped an onboarding and location permissions setup experience for mileage auto-tracking.
Built map UI to display recorded trip routes with start/end markers and trip detection confirmation screens.

Onboarding flow for mileage auto-tracking
Progressive disclosure of location permissions with clear value proposition. Step-by-step flow explains why "Always Allow" is needed for background trip detection.

Trip route map view with start/end markers
Polyline route rendering on MapKit with custom pin annotations. Bottom sheet displays trip metadata: distance, duration, and one-tap business/personal classification.
Auto-tracking GPS detection and confirmation
Real-time trip detection card with animated state transitions. Contextual actions surface at the moment of arrival, reducing friction for trip logging.

Mileage data logs and trip summary
Chronological trip list with swipe-to-classify gestures. Summary stats at top provide running totals for business vs. personal miles and potential tax deduction value.
